Before joining CRUX, Philip Howard was CIO of Beazley, the insurance specialists and prior to that he was a senior independent director of Schroders, having acted as a non-executive director since November 2008. He was Chairman of Tarchon Capital Management LLP and spent a number of years as deputy to the Chairman of Lehman Brothers in Europe until 1997. He was also the partner in charge of international fixed income at Phillips & Drew. Philip joined CRUX as Non-Executive Chairman in September 2018.
Charles qualified as a solicitor in 1971 and spent most of the seventies in Hong Kong before returning to the UK. After the “big bang” in the 1980s he developed a following among City traders and professionals and this led to his establishing Ferguson Solicitors in London in 1997. The firm was one of the most respected niche practices specialising in City-related disputes representing employees and was recognised in Chambers Directory for their “unique knowledge of complex financial markets”. He sold his practice in 2015. Charles joined CRUX as a non-Executive Director in March 2014.
Having worked in the investment management industry, or banks servicing investment management companies since 1979, Alistair has gained significant financial services experience. He graduated as a Bachelor of Laws in 1975 and qualified as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland in 1978. Alistair first obtained board experience as a director of Morgan Grenfell Asset Management and related subsidiaries from 1988 to 1993. More recently Alistair was a director of Thornhill Holdings, a wealth management and unit trust management group, from 2005 until it was sold to Cazenove Capital Management in 2010. Alistair was heavily involved in the infrastructure of the investment management industry by being a member of the Bank of England Steering Committee on Crest (the UK securities settlement system) and by being on the SWIFT Securities Steering Board when SWIFT started to design and use messages for the securities industry. Alistair joined CRUX as CEO in March 2014.
Prior to joining CRUX as COO in July 2015 Karen worked as a member of the senior management team at Man Group as Global Head, Client Operations and Outsourcing. Prior to that Karen was Director of Client Service Operations at Henderson Global Investors. Karen has over 20 years' experience in Asset Management in both alternatives and traditional products and has spent the more significant periods of her career at Fidelity International (12 years) and New Star Asset Management (9 years). Karen has a Master of Business Administration degree from Durham University.
